"It's more important to give your life a chance"
Suiciderock: Would you be that nice and give us a little bit of information about your band and it`s history?
Theon: Well, the band was formed in 2002. Julian and me joined the band in 2004 since that we play rock`n roll together.
Suiciderock: Your album "Divine Insanity", which is also your first album was released in March this year. What was the recording process like?
Theon: It was pure horror. It took quite long and a big experience for everyone of us. It's always like this when you come from the garage and you go into a big studio to record your album. The studio session have been very hard, but we had lots of fun also. Yeah, we drank a lot of beer. (laughs)
Suiciderock: What did it feel like to get out your first album?
Julian: It was great.
Theon: It was also a bit scary I think.
Julian: We have been waiting for this moment for so long.
Theon: And we are very satisfied with our album. It has 11 great songs on it. We are confident and we hope that at least some people find it interesting and like the music.
Suiciderock: Did you have any exact plan for the album before going to the studio or did some desisions come up while recording the songs?
Theon: Well, we had this sort of direction. But we didn't have a straight line how everything has to be and stuff like that.
Suiciderock: Would you say that "Divine Insanity" has met your expectations? Or is there something you would change now that it`s done?
Theon: Well, of course there is always something you would like to change afterwards, but nothing major, only some little things. Every band feels like that after an album is done.
Suiciderock: The song "Guardian Angel" was the second single release of the record. The song tells a pretty touching story. Can you tell us what the song is about?
Theon: Yes. The first one was „Bleeding" than came „Guardian Angel". The song is about the connection between here and than.
Suiciderock: The single climed to number one in the charts. How did you react after you found out about that and did you expect this success?
Theon: Yeah it stayed there for three weeks.
Julian: It was a really crazy feeling.
Theon: It was amazing. We sort of expected it a little bit. It was already a big thing, when the song was on top of the charts in the second week.
Suiciderock: Your new song "Bullet for the Pain" is about suicide among teenagers. Where did the idea for this topic come from? Do you have own experiences with this theme?
Theon: It`s coming later this year. It's only about standing on the side and watching and about hearing stories about that topic. I think it`s important to give your life a chance. You shouldn't simply quit when you`re a little bit down. It was just an important issue for us to sing about this theme.
Suiciderock: Where do you get your inspirations for the song writing in general from?
Theon: From everwhere. We are called Lovex so it`s about love, hate and other big feelings, big emotions and so on. Everything that touches us. Life in general.
Suiciderock: There are many successfull bands coming from Tampere at the moment. In the past it was always said that Helsinki is Finlands rockcity. Do you think that Tampere is going to take this place now?
Theon: I think Tampere has always been the rock city. I think in Helsinki Hip hop music is great nowadays also dance and pop music, but Tampere is the number 1 rock city in Finland. Here are some more guys of the band. [Vivian, Sammy and Christian join the interview and now the band is completely]
Suiciderock: Your first songs gave advices how to succeed in love What`s your best advice to succeed in this complex theme "love"?
Theon: It`s about meeting the right person and following your heart. There is no right or wrong way to succeed in love.
Suiciderock:Do you have any bad habits as a band?
Theon: We run around naked all the time but I think there is nothing bad with that.
Suiciderock: What do you want people to get out of your music?
Theon: We try to make the audience feel what we feel during our gigs. We always try to have as much fun as possible. We try to play good rock music and to enjoy our lifes.
Suiciderock: How did you come up with the band name?
Theon: It was our first singer who came up with it. It was mostly because our lyrics are about love and lost love, so it was clear that we will be named Lovex. It`s what the band represents.
Suiciderock: What can people expect from your lifeshows?
Julian: Blood, sweat and tears.
Suiciderock: Will you release "Divine Insanity" also outside of the boarders of Finland?
Theon: We try to work as much as we can on it. Hopefully we will come to Germany as well.
Suiciderock: Your future plans for the band?
Theon: To make more albums and to play more gigs, to meet more people...
Vivian: ...and to conquer the world.
Suiciderock: Any last words for the readers of Suiciderock?
Theon: Listen to Lovex. We will come to Germany as soon as possible. Come to our gigs.
