"It would be nice to be the first band to play in the space"

Suiciderock: Could you give us a little introduction of the band to start up with the interview?
Kevin: We are just a simple wilde Rock`n Roll band from Los Angeles. We`ve been doing this now for a couple of of years but we are also a little bit different comparing to other Rock`n Roll bands as we have a saxophone- and a pianoplayer, we really kick out on stage.

Suiciderock: How long does the band exist now?
David: We are together as a band since 4,5 years now.
Kevin: The feeling within the band gets better everytime. We really enjoy this life at the moment.

Suiciderock: You are opening up for Green Day for their current tour. This is a quite big step for a band, how does this feel for you?
Kevin: It`s hard to say anything about that yet. Green Day was and still is one of our biggest influences. They are the only Rock`n Roll band that can do a show like this. They do an incredible show, they really put everything into it for themselves and the audience.

Suiciderock: How did it come up that you are supporting them on their whole European Tour?
Kevin: Well, they have another band , it`s like a garagestyle, 60`s -thing and I play guitar in that band and when our record came out, we passed it to the guys and the result was that they loved it. They wanted a fun-Rock`n Roll band as support for their European Tour, so we got the chance and we are very gratefull to be here now.

Suiciderock: You`ve already named Green Day as on e of your biggest influences. Any other influences to mentoine?
David: We love The Ramones and a lot of 70´s Rock and Glitter, obviously The Rolling Stones, yeah a lot of Rock`n Roll bands pretty much. We have many influences coming for all kind of styles.
Kevin: I for example love the B52`s and things like that. I think you have to see our show and than you will get a hint about our idols as well. Just anything wilde and crazy. Anything like that has got our attention.

Suiciderock: What about your band name? Is there any special story behind that we should know?
Kevin: It`s not a particular story but I got called "Prima Donna" when I was growing up for some reason and somehow it turned out to be the name of our band later on.

Suiciderock: We are in Munich today. Did you happen to see something of the city?
David: They gave us a little bus tour from the hotel to the venue, so we saw a bit.
Kevin: And we walked around last night. We went to the Hofbräu Haus. But we had a good time here, it`s been the best time we had in Germany so far. It seems that the people are a little bit more lose and crazy in Munich than elsewhere. It definately showed up tonight when we got on stage. We really had a blast. It was my favourite so far.

Suiciderock: You got around a lot, was there any place that was special in your eyes except Munich?
Kevin: We always love to go to Scandinavia. It was our second time to be there.

Suiciderock: What makes Scandinavia so special for you as a band? Kevin: The people over there just love Rock`n Roll. It seems that Rock`n Roll is still king there, it still moves people, changes their lifes and Scandinavia is always lot`s of fun.

Suiciderock: You`ve released your record "After Hours". Can people get that also in Europe?
Kevin: Yes they can. Cargo is distributing the record here in the EU. Our next release will probably happen under a European label. We`ve been talking to a fews and let`s see what the future holds...

Suiciderock: Are you coming back for a own tour?
David: Yes, we will be back in february. At least this is the plan. It`s still in the progress but february is what we are aiming for.
Kevin: We are planning to play all the cities we`ve played together with Green Day on that tour.

Suiciderock: Let`s talk about your music. What about the songwriting, who takes the responsibility for that?
Kevin: Someone brings in a really good riff or good lyrics and than we sort it out together. We drink a little bit at our rehearsal place and than we go for it. That`s all about.

Suiciderock: Is there already some new material for the next record?
Kevin: Yes, we have tons of new material waiting for us.

Suiciderock: Your future plans for Prima Donna?
David: As soon as we are home we will start to work on our new record. We hope we can get back on tour very soon.
Kevin: We need to talk to the guy who sends people to the space. It would be nice to be the first band to play somewhere in the space. The moon would be a good place, that would be historic.
